My 8 year old daughter, like most girls her age, is obsessed with American Girl dolls. I want to buy her one for Christmas, but I have no idea where to begin. Should I get her one of the customized dolls that looks just like her? Should I let her pick the doll herself? Or should I buy her one of the classic American Girl characters? Decisions, decisions.
I'm thinking about getting her one of the matching outfit sets, but I don't know if she's too old for that. Is it still cool to match your doll when you're in the third grade? Kids grow up so quickly these days, and I don't want to embarrass her.
The matching outfits are just too cute, though. You can get matching pajamas and matching holiday dresses and tons of other cute little matching sets. I just wish the prices were a bit lower – most of the pajamas I've seen range from $40 - $65. I need to start putting in some extra hours or something.
My daughter is totally worth it, don't get me wrong. I'm just not made of money. Maybe I can find some of the matching sets on eBay or something. I'll have to check it out tonight after she falls asleep. I have a secret eBay addiction and need to stop buying maternity jeans for myself and skinny leg jeans for my daughter. But I digress.
Anybody else have a daughter around 8 years old? What are you getting her for Christmas?
