The holiday season tends to bring out the best in people, but this cannot just happen to adults. In fact, sometimes, it is those little moves by the kids that make such a big impact. For example, the YMCA Greenwich Domestic Abuse Services organization recently received a very generous donation of American Girl Dolls. The dolls came from a nine year old named Brinkley Blum also of Greenwich.
The third grader donated 32 American Girl Dolls to the organization. The girl told her month she wanted to help girls who were less fortunate than she is. She wanted to give them American Girl Dolls because she believed that these dolls make people feel special. So, she took to PowerPoint and created a very unique presentation called "Share the Love" that she later used to convince her school and church to start a doll drive.
With the help of her church, St. Paul's Episcopal Church in Riverside and her school, Pear Tree Point School in Darien, along with some family help, Brinkley was able to collect 32 American Girl Dolls to donate. Used and new dolls were accepted, as was cash to purchase additional dolls. Each one of them is sure to go to a fabulous home where there is a child who is in need.
Are you doing anything special this year to help those less fortunate? For those who would like to join in through the donation of American Girl Dolls, purchase one and take it to your local toy drive, domestic abuse shelter or even to a local orphanage. These dolls are sure to bring a smile to someone's face.
